I have been thinking about mentors and how much you can learn from them recently. So, I wanted to share this old favorite video of mine.
When I work with leaders around the world, one thing that fascinates me is that so many think once they’re a 6 or 7-figure earner, they don’t have any emotional drama. They think that money takes care of everything. But mastering your emotions is one of the most important topics to deal with.
I have worked with thousands of 6 figure earners at all levels of the game. And one of the most common challenges of every high-level earner is relationships.
One theme keeps coming to my mind. All you need to go to the top in this profession is just to make a decision. That’s it.
Do you know what drives me crazy? Whiners. People get involved and decide to become entrepreneurs, and then as soon as they get in, they start complaining. They complain about their upline, the product, the training, support, translations, and everything else!
A lot of us don’t go out and share our Network Marketing opportunity because we’re concerned about what people will think about us. Well, your parents already think you’re crazy. Your friends, siblings, and Facebook friends all think you’re crazy. So, what?
I’m old enough that I remember when the game Pong first came out. That was my very first video game, and the only way to level up in that game was when the balls would go faster and faster. Then, there was Miss Pac Man where you got different fruits as you leveled up. And it was exciting to be able to level up!
Today, I want to talk with you about a secret to accelerate success. And the secret is to find a friend. Whether they are in your upline, downline, or crossline, find someone in your Network Marketing company to be friends with. Treat that friend like a workout partner, and talk with them all the time. Doing this accomplishes a couple different goals.
People ask me all the time, “How do I motivate myself to take action?” And unfortunately, here’s what many in Network Marketing are doing. Even those people making money will admit that if someone were to pay them for the work they did in the last 30 days, it wouldn’t be that much pay. In other words, they aren’t acting employed.
Many people have seen the movie The Secret or read the books As a Man Thinketh, Acres of Diamonds, or Think and Grow Rich. All of them are about the idea that thoughts can become things. And that is real. So, if I was to give you or any person wanting higher levels of success advice, it would be to think about your Network Marketing business all the time.
1. The things that are easy to do are also easy not to do.
2. Don’t wish things were easier. Wish you were better.
3. Life doesn’t respond to need. Life responds to deserve.
There are three key concepts I learned from Jim Rohn that have changed my life and my business.
Have you ever had one of those days where you thought about quitting your Network Marketing business? You got so discouraged that you just thought this wasn’t for you anymore. And if you’ve never thought that, keep listening because everyone that has ever been involved in this profession has had those days, and you will too.
How hungry are you? Have you ever heard about a great restaurant and everybody got you so excited about it that you beome hungry for that awesome meal you’re going to have? But then someone comes up and offers you a potato chip. And you’re hungry, so you take that potato chip. And then you take another. It’s okay, most people don’t really go big in Network Marketing; have another potato chip. After a while, you’ve eaten the whole bag and you’ve forgotten about that beautiful meal.
Have you ever found yourself afraid to do something in Network Marketing? Maybe you're afraid to make phone calls, do a presentation, follow up, or get people started. I think all of us have found ourselves afraid of something inside this profession from time to time. Our insecurities pop up, and we find ourselves frozen.
I was four or five years into my Network Marketing career before I realized that prospecting was actually a skill. I had always thought that prospecting was just a natural resource, not a skill that could be nurtured and developed. So, I decided to look at what successful people were doing.
Have you ever lost a week? You get a little bit of momentum and all of a sudden, you get distracted by this or that. And all of a sudden, the day is gone! Somebody drops by the house, and another day is gone. Someone suggests that you go to the movies, and another day is gone...
Today, I asked Jack Canfield to share with us his thoughts on the value of Network Marketing and the intelligence of the people involved in the profession.
Jack said that people in Network Marketing are extremely brilliant people, and they’re extremely successful because of that. More and more brilliant people like neurosurgeons, lawyers with large practices, VPs of international companies, have all been attracted to Network Marketing and been super successful. When he speaks at Network Marketing conferences, the people he meets there are all just extremely bright people.
The fastest path I know to become a Network Marketing professional is to improve the people you’re spending time with. One of the early lessons I learned from my parents is to be careful who you become friends with because your friends have an influence on your life.
Do you remember Todd Ellingson? Back at Go Pro Recruiting Mastery, Eric talked with Todd about what was holding him back in his business and Todd’s confidence was transformed before our eyes.
We ran into Todd at the Most Powerful Women in Network Marketing event, and we were so excited to see the difference!
I want to discuss how to talk to prospects. So many people go out and immediately want to give prospects every fact and figure about the product, compensation plan, company, etc. In my opinion, this strategy is jumping the gun.
Would you be surprised to hear that you are an educator because you’re involved in Network Marketing? You are in the education business. We educate people to the point that they understand what it is that we have to offer whether it is the opportunity, product, or service.
Most people will tell you to set a goal, create some activities around that goal, and then form new habits that will help you reach that goal. Those are great steps to achieve results, but I want to share with you a completely different mindset.
Imagine you’re the pilot of an airplane, and you’ve got everyone ready to take off. Now remember, you’ve got to be reasonable because you’ve got a job, kids, and other responsibilities. But you are in the plane, you’ve joined.
If you put the throttle at 30%, are you going to get off the ground? Any pilot will tell you no. What if you give 50% or 70%? You’re still not going to get off the ground! It’s simple physics. Now, you’ll be moving. You’re taking the product and signing someone up here and there, but you’re not getting off the ground or building momentum.
You’ve got to give it 100% to get off the ground! If you don’t give it 100% at least once, then eventually you’ll get to the end of the runway, and you’ll either have to put the brakes on and get off the plane or crash and take everyone with you. So, you’ve got to give it 100% to get off the ground.
